Pavilions in the forest, forest in the pavilion. The project is a contemporary interpretation of the park pavilion. Immersed in greenery, it allows a seamless connection and interpenetration of the urban environment with the natural landscapes on the outskirts of Warsaw. It acts as a mediator between city and nature, and thanks to its scale and form, it does not dominate but rather extends the existing urban context in a natural way. The design for the Day Support Center for Children and Youth with a Fab-Lab Carpentry Workshop was conceived as a space born from a rigorous and disciplined design process, yet one that simultaneously produces places that feel unplanned and spontaneously shaped. This unpredictability creates a surprising and unique experience for children and youth. The center consists of modular rooms measuring 6 × 6 meters, arranged to allow both open views toward greenery and the creation of various nooks and alcoves. These small hideaways provide children with spaces to retreat while remaining visually connected to common areas and under the supervision of educators. The modular structure enhances efficiency while also fostering a sense of harmony. At the heart of the facility lies a courtyard that divides the building into two parts. It serves as both a stage for children’s imagination and play, and as a dining and multipurpose hall. The courtyard is the central point of integration, offering also a quiet respite under the canopy of a large tree. Here, children discover their own worlds, freely interpreting their surroundings and inhabiting them without restraint. They hide, reveal themselves, relax, and run about—experiencing both freedom and discomfort, which creates a dynamic balance. The spaces are designed to nurture creativity, develop social skills, and support independence. Thanks to the carefully considered architectural layout, diversity and harmony are achieved along with direct contact with the surrounding nature. The building is designed with minimal environmental impact, reflected in the use of ecological building materials and energy-efficient technologies. Here, architecture becomes part of nature, and nature becomes part of architecture, creating a coherent and harmonious environment that supports the healthy development of children and youth.
